Breakfast
I love breakfast.
I could expound for hours on the relative bliss of breakfast, how I could eat a form of breakfast for every meal (and sometimes do). I love going out for breakfast, and lingering over coffee and the remains of an omelet bigger than my head. I love breakfast at home, fresh cinnamon rolls and hot crispy bacon and sleepy heads of sleepy kids munching lomtiks of toast while they watch Spongebob. I love breakfast in bed...I love breakfast over a campfire...I love breakfast brought to your room and left outside the door by the lovely British woman who makes sure there's milk for your tea and marmalade for your rolls.
Continental breakfasts at hotels? Bring it on.
Late breakfasts on the weekends at Cracker Barrel? Ohbabyohbabyohbaby.
Egg and cheese pie for dinner with greasy sausage links beside? Oh you tease.
Breakfasts at work are a different affair. I have no time to linger, to savor, no time to prepare something delicious and piping hot. This morning, for example, I ate a cheese stick and a tin of sardines in mustard sauce. It filled the gap, but was completely unsatisfying. (And I can hear some of you gagging out there at the thought of eating fish for breakfast. In my defense, it did taste good, and has that good fishy oil. But yes, it is not my first breakfast choice.)
I'm now longing for a large bowl of oatmeal swimming in brown sugar and cream. Or a toad-in-the-hole. Or scrambled eggs.
What are your breakfasts like?

I am a big breakfast fan too. sadly, The rest of my family is not. So i made a complete pig of myself at the free hotel breakfast this morning. There was BACON!
::spew::
you make breakfast sound divine! Funny thing I realized that I love breakfast foods at dinnertime but I loathe most breakfast foods in the morning. Except maybe some kind of good egg do up - but then I'd have to do it up myself and I am so not a morning person. Blech. My breakfasts usually consist of last night's left-overs. My fav left-over for breakfast: pork fried rice. Oh yeah. Hey, it's got eggs in it.
lomtiks of toast? What's a lomtik?
Hash browns. Scrambled eggs. Bacon. Coffee. I was at one time a short order cook and can make that meal so well it will leave your brain a quivering mass of overloaded neurons, begging for more.
Well, on a daily basis it's cold cereal. Occasionally I get to go out for second breakfast. The very best second breakfast is the blackberry bliss cakes at a Chicago place called m. henry: Two fat pancakes. The bottom one soaking in a pool of warm blackberries and their juice. The top one adorned with a sweet and crunchy mix of oats and brown sugar. Sandwiched in the middle, a slab of vanilla mascarpone cream that melts while you're eating the bliss cakes. One forkful containing fluffy pancake, crunchy oats, sweet and tangy berries, and sweet rich cream? Holy shit. It's all I can do to sit upright.
Second choice is going to IHOP and ordering the corn cakes or a short stack of buttermilk pancakes maybe with some scrambled eggs on the side.

Clowncar's not kidding. Nobody can make bacon like him. Paired with my pancakes, it's what Gawd Himself wishes he could have every morning.
Curious, wonder what toad in the hole might be...
I like lunch.
I like brunch.
I just like food.
The D-Man does not discriminate.
Clowncar, Mona is teasing me. She knows I squeal like a little girl whenever she uses words out of Burgess' "A Clockwork Orange." Lomtiks are toast soldiers, little thin slices, like three to a slice of bread.
Breakfast. When I have time I love to linger over freshly laid brown eggs, some grits, and wheat lomtiks with lots of butter. Hot tea, and cold tea too, and OJ, and oh god I need to go lie down for a little while, oh my droogs, and rest my weary gulliver.
Mmmm. Breakfast....
Hash browns. Homemade hash browns with sauteed mushrooms and onions and CHEESE melted all over them... Maybe with some homemade sausage.... and a peppermint mocha....
OK, finally posted a song that was sort of related to one of your poetry challenge things earlier this month.
I'm an all day breakfast fan too! bring on the Logger-Lumberjack special (without the work!) of Pancakes, sausages, eggs and home fries with onions! And bring some ketchup! And I'll be having coffee with that....with real cream! I also like hot porridge..oatmeal or Red River, the kind with bird seeds in it!
I'm going to make my lousy ole sandwich for lunch now!
btw, if you're not busy, we got a little competition going on at potsblog....
