My Left Finger

I’ve written 3 different posts today, and hate ALL of them.

I’m just in that sort of mood.

Not a bad mood…just a critical mood.

So…here’s my question for y’all:

How do you know when you’ve broken your finger?

Can you still move it? Does it always bruise? What could a doctor do to fix it other than splint it, and couldn’t I do that with two popsicle sticks and some bandage tape?

Sorry can't help you there. I hope it's not broken and you feel better soon.

If it's your middle finger, you'll have an excuse for a constant shooting of the bird.

I think if you break your finger you wouldn't be able to move it and you'd have bruising. But I am not sure, and as much as a dislike doctor visits myself that's all I can suggest!

Yes, yes...I'm sure that the popsicle sticks and some tape will fix a broken finger right up. But just in case, if it's still hurting and getting more swollen after a couple of days have passed, you might want to let a doctor check it out. I've never broken a finger, but I'm sure that if you set a break in the wrong way via the popsicle stcik method, it could cause more damage down the road.

Hope it feels better!!

Fingers are like toes. You might be able to get some help, but it might be just as easy for you to do it. If you're not sure it's broken, then it's probably not a real bad break that you could screw up by putting it in the popsicle sticks. I think...

If I were you I'd Google "broken finger".

As you know, I both dislocated and broke my right pinky; I just reset it, taped it to the next two fingers and waited it out. I am thinking that the crooked appendage that now remains gives me "character," but on a girl would look "gross." If you think its really broken, have it looked at, hon.

It will be very swollen. All they do is splint it and you can buy a metal splint at the Drugstore or do the popsicle stick thing. How did you do it?

Heck if I know. I read your first line and expected to SEE all 3 of these posts you hated. Let us know if you chose a professional or popsicle sticks.

Don't use popsicle sticks, they hold the finger too straight. You want to "buddy tape" it to the finger next to it so that it can bend naturally.

You know it's broken because it hurts like a son-of-a-bitch.

Cynical Girl's right -- play it safe and get it x-rayed. Maybe the doctor will prescribe some good painkillers....
